Blk and Barred is more than a podcast—it’s a safe space, a platform, and a growing community for Black lawyers and legal professionals who make up only 5% of the legal profession.  B.L.K. is not only the internet's way of saying "Black," but it also stands for Black Legal Kinship, which is what this community is. Anytime you are in our presence, we hope it feels like family.

Blk and Barred exists because the legal profession can be isolating for Black legal practitioners. We are often the only one in the firm, or even in the room. This is a space where you are freed from code-switching. Where you can merely be yourself in all of your Blackness.

 

On the podcast we talk about legal and social topics that impact the Black community. At our events and meet ups we gather to enjoy our commonality of being young, Black, and brilliant. Hosted by Avi B., a millennial Black woman attorney from NC, we blend law, laughter, and real talk like no one else.
